Introduction to the VA PPE Retooling Playbook
Epidemiologists and public health experts expect COVID-19 to continue to be an issue until a vaccine is available sometime in 2021. With that expectation comes the recognition that personal protective equipment is likely to remain in short supply.
In response, a core group of Virginia state agencies created this playbook to help manufacturers understand key elements for making PPE. In sharing it on the GENEDGE website, we hope to make this information widely available to Virginia’s manufacturers and help make our state’s PPE supply chain more resilient.*
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provides additional, formal guidance on PPE use and manufacture specific to COVID-19 on its website, with a section specific to industry: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/emergency-situations-medical-devices/medical-devices-and-covid-19-pandemic
